Government to abolish most 1980 coup regulations
If the government's proposed changes to 26 articles of Turkey's current Constitution -- a remnant of the Sept. 12, 1980, coup -- are accepted in the referendum ironically scheduled for Sept. 12, the government will then implement comprehensive reform of a large number of laws and statutes passed by the interim coup government. There are 669 such laws and 139 decrees left over from this period, and the government may review them for possible amendments.
