"On Kosovo, the secretary-general said he planned to closely coordinate next steps with the European Union, which has offered to facilitate a process of dialogue between Pristine and Belgrade," Ban's office said in a statement.
"The secretary-general and the minister also discussed a Serbian draft General Assembly resolution on this subject," the statement said.
Serbia on Wednesday submitted to the U.N. General Assembly a draft resolution that clearly points out that unilateral secession is not an acceptable way of resolving territorial issues and calls for finding a solution through dialogue.
The submission came a week after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia didn't break any international law. The draft resolution also contains an invitation to find a mutually acceptable solution to all outstanding issues through dialogue.
Serbia submitted the draft resolution to the U.N. after the completion of consultations with a broad circle of international factors, including all the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, the statement said.
